A
recent survey conducted by the American Psychological
Association reveals that 8 out of 10 Americans report
economy-related stress. And when employees are stressed,
productivity at work suffers too. In today's difficult economy,
employers are turning more and more to EAPs to help mitigate
potential negative effects of financial stress in the work
force.
“EA Professionals in the months and years just
ahead are facing critical issues,” said Robert K. Jenkins,
editorial director of Employee Assistance Program Management
Letter, sponsor of the high-level program, and moderator of the
EAP Manager professional discussion group.
EA Professionals are working today in a business climate defined
by the nation’s financial and economic turmoil, the highest
level of job loss in years, massive foreclosures, an employee
workforce worried about their own jobs, 401k plans, retirement
and financial stability,” Jenkins said.
“At the same time, EA Professionals are dealing with new demands
brought on by evolving workplace issues, new demands for
services, changing employee demographics and new generations of
employees and different workplace issues,” said Jenkins, a
veteran EA observer.
