Measuring the
Workplace Effects of EAP Intervention

Although EAPs tend to define "effectiveness" as obtaining
positive outcomes in the workplace, most providers continue to
struggle with being able to credibly demonstrate the end result
of their interventions. Purchasers are increasingly expecting
empirical outcome data that goes beyond satisfaction surveys
with low response rates and anecdotal reports of success. The
task of finding a short, relevant or affordable measurement tool
and then collecting and analyzing data has been burdensome for
many. The consequence is that most EA providers really don't
know if their specific program correlates with improved job
performance and functioning - the core claim of most EAPs.
This presentation will review a validated and free tool that
specifically measures the effects of EAP intervention on
workplace outcomes, along with presenting very concrete,
practical guidelines on how to conduct a defensible outcome
evaluation without adding a lot of resources or new expenses to
your budget. At the end of the presentation, you will have the
basic tools needed to execute an outcome evaluation and
differentiate your Program's actual performance from the
propaganda and hype that is now so pervasive in "claims" of
effectiveness.
